Peace be upon you / Assalamu Alaykum / السلام عليكم,

Welcome to the Islamic Society of Downey! We are your local mosque in Downey, CA. God willing, our goal is to be a diverse community center offering religious and community programs. We work toward this goal by being being a place of worship and a community center where people of all backgrounds and faiths can come together as neighbors and friends to learn from each other and promote acceptance, love, peace, respect, and admiration for all people, faiths, and backgrounds. By offering an inclusive community center, building bridges in our local community, and implementing these these core values, we are confident that we can contribute to the diverse makeup of our community in a positive and inspiring way.

Our Programs

 

We are actively working with our community to assess its needs and provide programs that help meet those needs such that our community continues to develop religiously, spiritually, and educationally. The provision of these programs is essential for our community’s development for the better, through the guidance of our masjid’s leadership, community leaders, and Allah SWT.

 

Qur’an memorization (coming soon)

Looking to begin your journey of memorizing the Qur’an? Or perhaps you’re looking to refine what you’ve already memorized? Regardless of your level, please consult with out local hafith’s to assess your needs so that we can build a program around you.
 

Interpreting the qur’an (coming soon)

Participate in one of three levels partitioned by age groups and organized by topic to learn the interpretation of some of the most common and important surah’s (chapters) of the Qur’an. Available for children (ages 5-16), young adults (ages 17-25), and adults (ages 25+).

 

Arabic 101 (coming soon)

Whether you’re learning your أ,ب,ت’s (A,B,C’s) or looking for some advanced grammar, our Arabic Language resources will provide you with the tools necessary to help master Arabic for religious studies.
 

hadeeths (coming soon)

Join us after Maghrib and Isha’a prayers for the sharing, interpretation, and takeaways of some of the major hadeeth’s shared by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his Sahabah (RAA).

Our masjid relies on engagement from our community, and that begins with your involvement. Wether you attend prayers everyday or just on jummah’s, your presence is felt and appreciated. Consider furthering your involvement with your community so that we may collectively better one another through the sake and love of Allah SWT.
